Garmisch-Partenkirchen sits at the foot of the Zugspitze, about 90 kilometers south of Munich – reachable via the A95 in approximately 75 minutes. The route is one of the most scenic short transfers in Bavaria, with the Alpine ridge becoming visible halfway through the drive. We handle Munich-Garmisch trips year-round: ski groups in winter, hikers and golfers in summer, conference visitors at the Edelweiss Lodge and weekend hotel guests at the Sonnenbichl, Eibsee or Riessersee.

ROUTE CHARACTERISTICS
What the Munich to Garmisch route involves
The A95 is the standard southbound motorway from Munich, switching to the B2 federal road for the final stretch through the Loisach valley into Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Outside peak ski season, the route is mostly congestion-free in 75-90 minutes. During winter ski weekends, particularly Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons, the B2 between Eschenlohe and Oberau can slow to a crawl. We factor this into bookings and recommend departure times that avoid the worst windows.
Fixed prices available on request – E-Class or V-Class for groups up to 7 passengers, including ski equipment.
Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes via A95/B2 in normal traffic – longer on ski weekends due to B2 bottlenecks between Eschenlohe and Oberau.
Multi-passenger ski transfers in the V-Class with dedicated luggage and ski equipment compartment – up to 7 adults plus equipment.
English-speaking chauffeurs familiar with Garmisch (Eibsee, Edelweiss Lodge, Sonnenbichl, Riessersee, Zugspitzbahn, Kreuzeck) and surrounding ski resorts.
The V-Class has a dedicated luggage compartment that comfortably accommodates ski equipment for up to 7 passengers. No additional fees for ski bags, snowboards or boot bags. We provide ski racks on request for groups exceeding the V-Class compartment capacity.
Door-to-door, hotel-to-hotel
You step out at the entrance of your Munich hotel and step into the foyer of your Garmisch lodge – no parking, no transferring luggage between train and shuttle, no walking in ski boots. Particularly valuable when traveling with children or elderly family members.
Year-round, not just ski season
Beyond winter sports, Garmisch is a major summer destination: Zugspitze, Olympia ice rink, Riessersee, golf, hiking trails. We handle bookings across all four seasons; the route logistics are similar regardless.
The Munich-Garmisch route covers a wider range of use cases than most direct city-to-city transfers, mostly because Garmisch itself is a multi-season destination. Below are the four most common booking patterns – each with its own seasonal pattern and vehicle preference.
Winter ski transfers (December-March): family groups, friend parties or corporate ski outings to Garmisch, Zugspitze platform or surrounding resorts (Mittenwald, Lermoos, Ehrwald).
Summer hiking and outdoor activities (May-October): pickups for the Zugspitze, Eibsee, Partnach Gorge, Höllental – often combined with Garmisch hotel stays for 2-3 nights.
Conferences at Edelweiss Lodge or Sonnenbichl: business visitors with single-day or multi-day attendance, often booking the same chauffeur throughout the conference.
Wedding party transfers: increasingly popular venue for couples marrying in the Bavarian Alps – we transfer wedding parties from Munich to mountain hotels in V-Class or Sprinter.
For multi-day winter or summer engagements, we can hold the chauffeur in Garmisch overnight (with hotel accommodation included in the daily rate) – useful for groups with daily activities or evening dinner plans where waiting times in Munich would create friction. Most clients book us for the round trip plus a few daily transfers within Garmisch itself. Related routes: Munich – Salzburg and Neuschwanstein day trip.
Pricing for the Munich-Garmisch route is straightforward: fixed prices for one-way and round-trip transfers, daily flat rates for multi-day engagements where the chauffeur stays in Garmisch with you. For ski groups in the V-Class, you receive a single fixed price covering the entire group plus equipment. For conference visitors, we typically agree multi-day flat rates with overnight standby.
Fixed prices for Munich to Garmisch available on request – E-Class, S-Class and V-Class options for up to 7 passengers including ski equipment.
Round-trip same day: hourly rates on request – common for short ski days or business meetings.
Multi-day packages individually calculated – contact us for a binding quote based on duration and requirements.
Multi-day package (3+ days): discounted daily rates, with chauffeur hotel accommodation included. Common for ski week stays or summer hiking holidays.
For ski groups during peak weeks (Christmas, New Year, Carnival, Easter), we recommend booking 4-6 weeks in advance to lock in the V-Class. Conference bookings at Edelweiss Lodge or Sonnenbichl can typically be arranged 2-3 weeks ahead. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before pickup; for multi-day arrangements with hotel commitments we agree separate cancellation terms.
Inquiry takes seconds, fixed-price confirmation within 30 minutes. For multi-day journeys or special occasions we coordinate the daily schedule with you in advance.

How long does the trip from Munich to Garmisch take?
Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes under normal traffic conditions, via A95 motorway and B2 federal road. The drive can extend to 1h 45min on busy ski weekends (Saturday morning, Sunday afternoon) due to bottlenecks on the B2 between Eschenlohe and Oberau. We factor this into bookings and recommend departure times that avoid known traffic windows.
Can you transport ski equipment for a group?
Yes. The Mercedes-Benz V-Class accommodates 5-7 adult passengers plus ski equipment in the dedicated luggage compartment – including snowboards, boot bags and ski poles. For larger groups (8+ passengers with equipment), we deploy the VIP Sprinter (9, 14 or 20 seats) with even more equipment capacity. There is no additional fee for ski equipment.
Do you handle pickups at hotels in Garmisch?
Yes. We provide direct hotel-to-hotel service – pickup at your Munich location, drop-off at the entrance of your Garmisch hotel (Edelweiss Lodge, Hotel Sonnenbichl, Riessersee Hotel, Hotel Eibsee, etc.). Your chauffeur knows the access roads to each property, including the road conditions during winter.
Can I book a chauffeur for the entire ski week?
Yes. Multi-day packages with the chauffeur staying in Garmisch (hotel accommodation included) are common for ski week visitors. The chauffeur is available daily for transfers within Garmisch (to lifts, restaurants, sights) plus the return journey to Munich at the end of the week. Pricing is on a discounted daily flat rate.
Are tolls and parking included in the price?
Yes. The fixed price includes fuel, the chauffeur, all parking fees in Garmisch (including at lifts and the Zugspitzbahn) and standard amenities (water, Wi-Fi, charging cables). There are no surprise add-ons after the trip.
Is winter driving safe with your fleet?
Yes. All our vehicles operate on winter tires from October through Easter as standard, and our chauffeurs are experienced in Bavarian Alpine winter conditions. For exceptional weather (heavy snowfall, black ice), we contact you proactively to discuss timing or postponement. Cancellations due to genuine weather emergencies are handled flexibly.
